What is Buttocks Rejuvenation?
It’s a common area of the body for people to have concerns with — the buttocks. Even for the most disciplined of dieters and exercisers, the buttocks is a part of the body that can suffer from the simple effects of time, age, and even weight loss. There are ways to enhance and reshape the buttocks for a more comely, aesthetically pleasing, and overall tighter and toned look. At the Plastic and Cosmetic Center of South Texas, we’ve got the options you may have been seeking.
We do several different buttocks rejuvenation procedures, all depending on your individual needs and the results you are trying to achieve. One of the newest and most popular options is known as a Brazilian Butt Lift. This is the perfect procedure for anyone looking to enhance and improve the buttocks without having to undergo implants or a traditional butt lift — more on both of those later.
A Brazilian Butt Lift is a fat grafting procedure — excess fat is taken from an area of the body where you don’t want it in order to put it in a place where you do. There are no implants. Nothing artificial is being put into your body. It’s your own natural body fat being moved from one place to another. Sometimes traditional liposuction accompanies a Brazilian Butt Lift to further improve the overall shape and add to the lift.
A traditional buttocks lift is different than a Brazilian Butt Lift, and not everyone is a candidate for this type of surgery. For the most part, this procedure is best for people who have undergone significant weight loss, whether on their own or as a result of gastric bypass or similar treatment. The reason for this is that a traditional butt lift is an ideal procedure when there is enough fat, but too much excess, sagging skin. It is also sometimes performed as part of a total body lift, a multi-part cosmetic procedure that we also do here. In a butt lift, incisions are made in the buttocks so that excess fat — if any — can be removed. After that, the skin is pulled up and draped over the buttocks, and any excess skin is removed or trimmed away. Stitches or sutures hold the “new” skin and shape in place as you heal.
Buttock or gluteal implants are another form of augmentation for this part of the body. In this procedure, special implants are put into the buttocks in order to create a more pleasing shape — in that way, it is similar to breast augmentation surgery. This butt rejuvenation option is perfect for people — men or women — who don’t have fat that can be grafted or transferred. Silicone butt implants are placed under the muscle of your butt — the gluteus maximus muscle, to be precise. This surgical procedure does have a longer recovery time than some other forms of butt rejuvenation, with a possible total convalescence time of four to six weeks.
