Sunscreen does more than lower the risk of skin cancer and, more immediately, sunburn. A report showed that it also slows the visible signals of skin aging, such as wrinkles, sagging and discoloration.
More than 900 mostly fair-skinned men and women who were under the age of 55 were randomly asked to use sun protection factor (SPF) 15 sunscreen on a daily basis or to use as they wished.
The daily sunscreen group showed no detectable increase in skin aging after 4.5 years, as opposed to the other group of individuals who show increased signs of wrinkles and discoloration.
When applying sunscreen, don’t forget the places that receive most of the sun’s rays like the forehead along the hairline, and wear a hat. Your scalp can undergo skin damage as well.
