Secondary Facelift Prove Long Lasting

Conveniently located to serve San Antonio and surrounding communities.

A new study in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery reports that those undergo a second facelift surgery achieve dramatically longer lasting results than those who received just one facelift.

The purpose of facelift is to resect, release, reshape, refill, and redrape. It’s one of the most common procedures in America for those between the ages of 40 and 60.

Of more than 800 facelift operations studied and performed during this 20-year span, 60 were secondary facelifts (57 women and three men). The secondary face lift patients were 51 years of age on average when they had their first facelift and 60 years at their second facelift. The results of the initial facelift lasted an average of 9 years.

Of the 60 patients undergoing a secondary facelift, 10 later underwent a third facelift procedure. The time between the second and third procedures was 7.5 years—suggesting that the results of the secondary facelift lasted about as long as those of the initial procedure

The complication rate during a 2nd facelift procedure does increase from the 1st. If you’ve received one facelift and are thinking about undergoing another one, contact the office.
