For many, the efforts of diet and exercise do not offer the results they hoped for. Many of us have stubborn areas on our body where fat seems to linger, no matter how diligent we are with our health and fitness. However, now there’s SmartLipo body sculpting. The SmartLipo system is terrific for those stubborn fat areas you just can’t shake like love handles, flabby thighs, double chin and jowls. SmartLipo body sculpting sounds like surgery, but it is really liposuction combined with a laser treatment.
How does SmartLipo body sculpting work?
Traditional liposuction creates small incisions in the body and fat is sucked out through a cannula or tube. SmartLipo takes this a step further, and a laser treatment is implemented to melt the fat, which makes the suctioning easier. The heat of the laser treatment tightens and firms the overlying skin. In fact, skin shrinkage is 30 percent more than that experienced with liposuction alone. With the addition of a laser, blood vessels are coagulated for little bleeding, and collagen is stimulated. Since a person has a finite number of fat cells, their reduction is permanent.
Is SmartLipo a painful procedure?
It is a minimally invasive, body sculpting procedure using local anesthesia. If a patient opts for general anesthesia, this will be provided.
Is SmartLipo an outpatient procedure?
Yes. It uses local anesthesia, which greatly reduces patient care and risks. Most patients can be awake when the treatment is done.
How long does the procedure take?
SmartLipo procedures generally take 60 to 90 minutes per area.
What about recovery?
After 12 hours, a person may shower. Immediate return to daily activities is encouraged, provided this is light exercise. Strenuous exercise can be resumed in approximately a week. Swelling is a normal reaction to SmartLipo body sculpting procedures. By one month, most of this has disappeared, and within four months the end results can be seen.
What kind of person is a good candidate for SmartLipo body sculpting?
SmartLipo has best results for those who are not significantly overweight, but desire fat reduction for specific problem areas. These areas can be multiple, but generally one procedure is appropriate for a session. If a person desires an approach to multiple problem areas, general anesthesia in a surgical center is offered.
What are the usual results for a SmartLipo procedure?
Patients are typically very happy with a SmartLipo transformation. Of course, good general health and realistic expectations should be addressed before any cosmetic procedure. Doctors recommend a holistic approach post-surgery, with healthy diet and regular exercise routine.
