Excess volume in the submental area is typically harmless from a medical standpoint but it can be aesthetically bothersome for those patients who desire a tighter contour of their jawline. This excess volume is commonly known as the double chin and it’s an extremely common condition that affects many men and women as they age and their skin grows more lax.
Plastic and Cosmetic Center of South Texas, located in San Antonio, is glad to announce that a non-surgical and comfortable solution to this concern is within your reach with Kybella®. Kybella® is an injectable treatment meant to decrease the appearance of fat in the submental area while adding a leaner contour to the jawline.
If any number of factors have caused your submental area to sag and you wish to address it, contact us in San Antonio and let’s find out if Kybella® can help you get the more defined look that you’ve been wanting.
What is Kybella®’s Appeal?
Kybella® is the first and only injectable treatment for decreasing submental fat. Apart from that, it’s quick, requires minimal downtime, and is available to patients who cannot or do not want to undergo invasive options like surgery. Surgical options can also carry the risk of damaging healthy tissue by accident and by avoiding incision, Kybella® avoids this risk to a great degree. Each individual treatment takes about 15 minutes to be completed, and some patients see results with only two to four sessions.
How Does Kybella® Work?
Kybella® uses a solution of deoxycholic acid to break down fat cells into smaller components that can be carried away by the body with greater ease. Kybella® takes multiple sessions in order to be effective and should spaced out a month from each other. There may be some tenderness to the injected area after the procedure has been completed but it should subside within a day. This is also an outpatient procedure, meaning that you should be able to return home to rest after a session has been successfully completed.
Am I Candidate for Kybella®?
If you want to use Kybella® to decrease the appearance of fat in any other part of the body other than the submental area, Kybella® may not be for you. During this consultation we’ll discuss your medical history and current health to see if you are capable of undergoing this treatment. If it turns out that Kybella® is not right for you as a patient, we will discuss alternatives.
