“Brazilian” Butt Lift: Liposuction of the body with placement of the fat into the buttocks. It is not really a “lift” at all (not like a normal butt lift with the long incision) It is for those with extra weight who have “enough “ fat to make a difference. The biggest misconception is that “I have enough fat”. This is wrong 80% of the time depending on goals. Fat dies at a rate of 30-70% over the first 3 months, and no guarantee of projection or size is ever given. The fact is that fat dies. Implants stay the same except for short term swelling. People who are not very large may not have this option.
No sitting for 2 weeks; standing or lying down only. No driving for 2 weeks. There are usually drain tubes in that drain each buttocks . Liposuction areas on the back and front are bruised for 5 days-2 weeks. A garment is worn for 6-8 weeks AT ALL TIMES except to wash. Follow-up is weekly until the drains are out, then 6 weeks, 13 weeks, 6 months and 1 year. The buttocks will lose 10-20% (approx.) over 2-3 months.
Pros: Patients own fat, No foreign body for infection. No drain tubes. Activity sooner.
Cons: Not as reliable volume wise as implants May need repeat treatments. May need to GAIN weight to provide donor fat if large increase is desired.
