Everyone knows that wrinkles are an unsightly sign of aging. Unfortunately, wrinkles are eventual and inevitable for everyone. However, that doesn’t mean you actually need to put up with them. When you visit a medical spa or cosmetic treatment center, an expert aesthetician will discuss your goals and various treatment options. It’s likely that you’ll be asked if you’d be interested in dermal filler treatments, such as Bellafill, Kybella® or Botox®. In all likelihood, you may never have heard of most of these treatments before. How can you make a sound decision? While your provider will most likely be well versed in each treatment and will be able to explain each procedure to you in detail, having some advanced knowledge is especially helpful.
Bellafill®
Bellafill® is a newer type of dermal filler which cosmetic surgeons have been embracing thanks to its various possibilities. Bellafill is particularly effective and safe when used to treat wrinkles around the cheeks, chin, eyes, and temples. It can be used anywhere on the face excluding in the lips. Bellafill is a great option for patients who want long-lasting results as it revitalizes areas of the body through adding collagen underneath the skin. It also creates what’s called a microsphere matrix, which boosts the body’s natural production of collagen over time. Due to this, Bellafill® treatment results can last up to 5 years.
Kybella®
Kybella®, although not exactly a dermal filler, is an injectable treatment used for reducing the appearance of a double chin. Kybella® can destroy fat cells, giving the patient a more youthful and slimmer appearance. It’s often recommended that Kybella® is used in conjunction with another dermal filler, providing maximum results for younger looking skin.
Botox®
Botox® is an injectable treatment that works by stalling muscle contractions under the skin of the face. The treatment gives the patient smoother, younger looking skin with a reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox® can also be used as a preemptive wrinkle treatment, as it sometimes can suppress the development of wrinkles as well. Unlike Kybella®, however, Botox® treatments only last about three to four months, requiring patients to get several treatments for as long as they want its results to last.
